HALF-WAY THERE CHALLENGE! July 17th, 2009

This exercise is advanced sentence combining; it is designed for students who have completed Lesson 9 in the course.

Sentence 1: Mr. and Mrs. Phillips wanted to attend a lecture at the public library downtown.
Sentence 2: They wanted to hear a famous explorer talk about his travels to far-off and dangerous locations.

Grammar: 1. Use a gerund to combine the sentences.
2. Use a relative pronoun to combine the sentences.
3. Use an infinitive

Sariyat: #1--yes you have a gerund, but using 'want' twice in that sentence is very awkward. #2--try to get rid of one use of "want". #3--good.
