HALF WAY THERE CHALLENGE! Jan. 8. 2010

This exercise is advanced sentence combining; it is designed for students who have completed Lesson 9 in the course.

Sentence 1: The New Year was celebrated around the world.
Sentence 2: Most people hope for a more peaceful year to come.
Sentence 3: This year many are also hoping for more prosperity.

Grammar:1. Use an appositive to combine the sentences.
2. Use a gerund to combine the sentences.
3. Use a relative pronoun to combine the sentences.

UZMA: # 2--there's something missing here; #3--this does not include a relative pronoun.

UZMA: You can use "hoping" in the following constructions: hoping for something or hoping that something happens. Hoping can also be followed by a subject noun or pronoun.
