GRAMMAR QUESTION, June 18th

Correct the errors in the following sentence overheard in the supermarket:

When the committee had met last week it was decided that they approved constructing of a new retiring centre.

Remember that there is more than one possible correct answer.

After meeting last week, the committee approved the construction of a new Retirement Centre.

Rupinder: The second entry is much better, but you don't need capital for "retirement centre"--it's not the specific name of a place.

Rupinder: Grammatically good, but note that you have changed the meaning when you use 'after" instead of "when".
