#1--good; #2--this also a phrase; #3--you have changed the given clause into a dependent one--don't change that one;-)

3. I have mixed feelings about St. Patrick's Day because I don't like to wear green.

Dependant clause:
I have mixed feelings about St. Patrick's Day because it seems to be an exuse for people to drink too much.

Independant clause:
I have mixed feelings about St. Patrick's Day; it tends to escalate into an opportunity for massive alcohol consumption.

Matt: #1--good; #2--this is another phrase (no subject + verb); #3--you have changed the original independent clause into a dependent one;-)

Jeff: #1--good; #2--yes, but note that "its" means "it is" here; therfore you need an apostrophe "it's". Also, you need "too"; don't confuse with "to";-) #3--good.
