SENTENCE COMBINATION, Sept. 14th, 2009

Learning to combine ideas into more complex sentences is an important skill in writing. There are many ways to do this--many possible bonus points! Try to combine the following three sentences.

Sentence 1: Now that September is here, can winter be far behind?
Sentence 2: The fall equinox occurs in the third week of September, but the precise date varies from year to year.
Sentence 3: Already the trees are beginning to the turn colour and starting to lose their leaves.

With the dates varying each year, the fall equinox occurs some time during the third week of September when the trees begin to turn colour and lose their leaves; we ask the question, "Is winter far behind?"
