SENTENCE COMBINATION, Mar. 8th, 2010

Learning to combine ideas into more complex sentences is an important skill in writing. There are many ways to do this--many possible bonus points! Try to combine the following three sentences

Sentence 1: Many people wear green clothing on St. Patrick’s Day and drink green beer.
Sentence 2: St. Patrick's Day is a celebration that seems to have spread around the world as it is celebrated by people with no Irish background or connection.
Sentence 3: Even though a saint is commemorated on March 17th, this celebration is definitely a secular one rather than a religious one.

St. Patrick's Day, which is March 17th, is a celebration that commemorates a saint, although it is a purely secular holiday rather than a religiious one; especially since it is celebrated by many people around the world who aren't Irish but enjoy the fun by wearing green clothing and drinking green beer.

PATHIRAGE: Yes, but note that you need a semicolon instead of the comma that separated the last clause--it's an independent clause;-)
